Old Fashioned Cabinet Hardware - It was not so long that cupboard hardware seemed to be a relic of the past. New Euro cupboard designs knobs as well and not only did away with the hinges but the pulls. While this produced a cleaner, more advanced look in the kitchen, it robbed the home of a bit of its soul, as character became secondary to clean hidden functions and lines.
Thankfully, designers and builders have taken a 2nd look at cabinetry, time for the days when cupboard hardware was not only visible but used as a design component as well. This partly explains the large assortment of knobs, pulls, backplates, drawer glides and hinges on the market these days.
When looking at new cupboard hardware, by looking at the cabinets you've got now or the ones you want to start you are going to purchase. Cabinets use various styles of hardware. As an example, in case your current cupboards have hidden hinges you may not be able to retro-fit them with hinges which are visible, as the cabinets themselves aren't set to accommodate them.
So start by searching at the cabinets you've got now and see without needing to do lots of retrofitting how they can be refitted. One of the things that are easiest to do will be to change the pulls with new pulls or knobs out with knobs. You do require to be conscious that maybe not all pulls are the same width so you might not be able to match the bolt holes exactly, when working with pulls. Knobs are the easiest as you are only matching one existing hole to substitute, perhaps not two as with pulls.
